Gerald Zaltman at Harvard found that 95% of every decision happens below conscious awareness. Brian Knutson at Stanford confirmed in 2007, using fMRI scanning, which parts of the brain form those decisions. Two regions determine everything. The Nucleus Accumbens activates when a word or sentence feels safe and worth engaging with. The Insula activates when something feels unfamiliar. Language Lab maps words and sentences directly to both.
NC analyses the strategy behind a sentence. An open question forms a different gut decision than a command. Appreciation forms a different gut decision than a condition. Each language strategy produces a measurable score, and Language Lab calculates it for every sentence entered.
NA scores the emotional charge carried by individual words. Words like "solution," "opportunity" and "possible" form approach-oriented gut decisions. Other commonly used professional words form a different gut response, because every word carries associations built up over a lifetime and those associations fire instantly and below conscious awareness. Hebb's Law (1949) explains the mechanism: neurons that fire together wire together.
